Mission of Contaminated Corn Blog

I recently discovered that the youth of America, right now, are expected to live about 10 years shorter than their parents. That statistic horrified me so I wanted to learn more about the American Agriculture system. What started out as a search for the cause of obesity in American children turned into a desire to understand all the impacts of American Agriculture- health related, environment related, and economics related.

As a designer I took this information and began illustrating the complex processes and systems in a more simplistic and easier to interpret format. The collection of these illustrations were compiled into a book, "Contaminated Corn & Starving Farmers". But I want the discussion to continue, and I want more people to be able to understand why America is in the condition it is in.

I will be posting more graphics here weekly, and prompting the online community to get involved and share their own opinions. This is also a resource for those who wish to learn more about the issues these graphics bring up. Furthermore, it is my hope that this blog can serve as an instrument for change in the American Agriculture industry. It is my belief that it is unacceptable to let the system we currently have remain in place, and I am curious to hear suggestions, thoughts, and ideas people might have on modifying the system sustainably. Thanks & enjoy! New posts, each week!

So, what are you waiting for? Join the conversation!
